Preclass Exercise:
- A girl goes to a shop, pays a Rs 10 note and buys a Rs 5 pencil. The shopkeeper doesn't have change, and gets change from the trader next door. When the girl's gone, the trader comes back and informs the shopkeeper that the Rs 10 note he gave is fake. The shopkeeper gives the trader another Rs 10 note, and has to throw away the fake note. How much loss has the shopkeeper had to incur?

Instructor Notes: Surprisingly, all kids said 5 or 15. Useful to have them step back, and make them see that ultimately only Rs 10 have been lost. Also worked to show the whole transaction with real coins.

Design an algorithm to play Wordle

- What are the other similar games you have seen - Cows and bulls? How is this different from cows and bulls? Will that change your strategy
- Think about strategies
- What kind of words should be the first - vowels versus consonant, common letters
- But the frequency of letters in 5-letter words may not be the same. For example, all articles and many propositions are out, so that may reduce frequency of certain letters
- Do you dig more after initial matches, or do you diverge? When do you do what?
- How do progressive words depend on what is already matching
- If we have a list of all 5 letter words, then at every stage we know possible answers, and we can calculate frequency on that. This could use soft and hard matches
- Then we could go for coverage of new letters, or we could try and guess
- How do we balance this with trying to find the right position of soft matches
- Should one think about first two words and not just one?
- How do you deal with repetitive letters?

- Countdown - you guess a letter and then if its there, I will disclose locations of that letter. Play a few games. Design a strategy
- High or low - you guess a word, and i will tell you if its alphabetically larger or smaller than my word. Design a strategy

- Find the right angled triangle with the largest perimeter, with one of the sides measuring 13 units
